Observations >> Jimmy Fallon as the new Conan?Tuesday, March 10th, 2009 @ 12:40am
I'm trying to give Jimmy a fair shot and not judge him based on how bad his movies were (are) and how much I thought he screwed up every sketch he was in on SNL, so I am watching the new Late Night and I'll reserve judgement for now...

Life Events >> Expedited Home OwnershipThursday, December 18th, 2008 @ 02:11am
Went from not having a home, to having a home in 6 months, to not being able to justify mortgage on new home without huge down payment, to having a bigger house fall into our laps before the end of the year! Phew!

Movies >> W, or in the modern tongue, "Dubya"Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 @ 11:27pm
Saw the movie "W" with my parents this past weekend, and even though I didn't know what to expect, I was actually pleasantly surprised. Though I agree with a previous review I read online in that it makes you feel bad for GWB. Josh Brolin did a convincing job of talking like and acting like Bush, but didn't really look like him - not that he could help it.

Politics >> Debate ThoughtsThursday, October 16th, 2008 @ 02:49am
Once again we are given ample evidence, via McCain's body language alone, that he is entirely too unstable to lead the nation. Not that this should be the qualifying attribute in a commander & chief, mind you, but can you imagine his behavior around other world leaders when he doesn't get his way? Kinda scary IMHO.

It's happening again... The entire month of September went by without a single post.

Jeez I say "well" alot.

Work >> Alaska HighlightsSunday, August 24th, 2008 @ 03:59am
Well, just got back from my second trip to Alaska, and it was... Busy. Lots to do and not so much time for the seeing of sights. Was still fun, though - definitely a big change from home.

Movies >> The Dark Knight in IMAXSaturday, August 16th, 2008 @ 12:13am
I finally saw The Dark Knight again in all its IMAX glory, and boy was it worth the $19 ticket price... ($14 for IMAX + $5 convenience fee because the tickets were purchased through TicketMaster in order to avoid the inevitable selling out). I also saw Batman Begins in IMAX at the same theater, and while that was the normal movie just shown on a much bigger screen, The Dark Knight had quite a few scenes shot on IMAX format film, so the difference was like going from SDTV to HDTV (almost, that's an exaggeration). Bottom line; if you've only seen the Dark Knight in a regular theater, you owe it to yourself to see it in IMAX. Also, the trailer for the Watchmen movie looks awesome even though I have no idea what it will be about.

Life Events >> Wedding AccomplishedMonday, August 11th, 2008 @ 12:47am
Well, the wedding was a blast and I think everything went off without a hitch. Congratulations to the newlyweds, Chris and Amber! It was interesting to experience it from this side of the altar - but it kinda makes me nostalgiac for my own some three years ago.

Life Events >> Wedding PreparationsMonday, August 4th, 2008 @ 12:45am
Well, Chris and Amber are getting married on Friday, so this is the crunch time. Since it's hectic for us as members of the wedding party, I can't imagine how hectic it is for them - oh wait, yes I can. But seriously, I know what it's like, so I can sympathize with them. Weddings are verifiably crazy and surviving them should merit a badge; or a merit badge.

Well Being >> Sleep ScheduleFriday, August 1st, 2008 @ 02:50am
Well, my sleep schedule is officially messed up to the point where I consider any amount of sleep over two hours for a single night to be a success. Therefore it can be concluded that tonight is NOT a success.

Rotating backgrounds? Check. Although now I think some of them don't work out with the transparency (coil of nails, I'm looking at you).

Movies >> The Dark KnightWednesday, July 30th, 2008 @ 12:00am
Well, I've finally seen The Dark Knight (although not in IMAX), and I can honestly say it's one of the best movies I've ever seen - though I hope that's not just the result of it being the most recent movie I've seen, and therefore the freshest in memory. But seriously, go see it! It reminded me, though probably not on purpose, of just how bad OTHER movies have been, and I am definitely going to see it again (this time in IMAX, naturally).

Life Events >> House for saleTuesday, July 29th, 2008 @ 12:24am
Well, our house has been on the market for about a week and we've had 7 showings already, but no bites - I guess that's a good sign in today's market? Right?

Programming >> Firefox 3 Bug?Monday, July 28th, 2008 @ 12:02am
I think I found a bug in the rendering of Firefox 3 (v3.0.1) on Windows Vista (SP1) - or it could just be me. Look at the word 'all' in the column on the left when this page is first loaded, does the second 'L' look funny to anyone else? On mine it should be bold but isn't. Very strange. It will go away when you hover the mouse, hence the above phrase "first loaded".

Site Log >> I Told You SoSunday, July 27th, 2008 @ 11:45pm
See? It's been a few weeks since the last time I thought I was "almost done", so let's see how this one goes.

Site Log >> Almost DoneThursday, July 10th, 2008 @ 01:15am
The new site design is almost done, it's just taking a while because of motivational shortcomings.
